MIBOR

An interbank interest rate for deposits in pesetas used in the Madrid market. The MIBOR (Madrid Interbank Offered Rate) was obtained through the weighted average of the transactions crossed at different terms on a given day. When the euro was introduced in Spain, it was renamed as Euribor. However, it continues to be used as a reference for mortgages signed before 1998.
